Cadbury made it big in 2008 with their Glass and a Half Full "Gorilla" video (which went viral and was then released on cinema's as a 2 minute spot across the world).
Here's the follow up:
Right now, it's only got about 2,700 views on YouTube but I think that the randomness (and the fact that it's the next thing from Cadbury) should help it go "viral" fairly quickly.
I'm a fan of the old school Chemical Brothers track but this spot might hit the 'random meter' a bit too hard. What do you think?

My Favorite Spot of 2008
I know, I know...what a statement. It will probably change in a few hours but after just watching this spot from Cadbury Schweppes, I had to blog it immediately.
From a branding perspective, I'm sure link will be low and key message...well that's going to be tough as well.
But it's a nice ad. It got my attention and I'm going to remember and enjoy watching it...over and over. If it's on TV, I won't FFWD through it on my PVR, I'll watch. And that to me, is success.

Think you know Viral?
If you want to learn about some of the different (but consistant) patterns currently used to create viral videos, read this post now. The author, Mark Laurie, does an excellent job grouping some successful videos into different groups and offers his thoughts (not backed up by any form of statistical analysis but still excellent) on how to create videos that could eventually become viral.
A lot of videos are well known - from the Cadbury Gorilla to Smirnoff Tea Party - however there are a few gems worth checking out.
A few of my favorites:
Snickers:
OKGO Treadmill
Hurt Kermit
Games in Life

Sony Soundville
Sony has released a new spot in Europe that shifts the focus from "Color Like No Other" to Sound. Created by Juan Cabrel (the guy who created the Cadbury Gorilla), the spot takes over a a small island town and installs speakers that play multiple types of music for a week straight.
The shots and tracks are nice and I think the piece creates cool impact. To be honest though, the brand message at the end seems a bit out of place. This would have been a great short film (brought to you by Sony) without forcing it into an ad at the last minute. Still pretty nice stuff though.

Wunderbra Viral Spoof
Remember the Cadbury Gorilla viral?
Well it looks like the people at Wunderbra put together a little spoof of the spot for the net. It's had over 100,000 hits on YouTube already and continues to grow.
If you can't think of any content worth creating, just copy something that's worked!
